Zimba’s Claims Baseless, Don’t Take Him Serious.

The Editor Zambia

The Tonse Alliance Secretary General, Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba, should be realistic and make projections backed by evidence to avoid misleading Zambians with his predictions for the August elections.

Zumani Zimba should not be taken seriously over his projections that Brian Mundubile will garner 70 percent of the total vote in the August 13, 2026 general elections.

Zumani Zimba is not aware that his candidate Brian Mundubile failed to file candidates in 72 constituencies, representing a 33% parliamentary representation, an indication that he has no structures across the country.

Analysts say failing to secure over 70 seats is an organizational failure that leaves millions of voters without an alliance alternative. They say this is as good as UPND going unopposed.

Zumani Zimba’s rhetoric is reminiscent of the very tactics that he employed in 2021 when his boss Edgar Lungu administration wanted to cling to power despite its numerous failings.

This is the same person that assured former president Edgar Lungu that he would win the 2021 election with a landslide victory.

According to Zumani Zimba, his local and international experts engaged by the Tonse Alliance says Brian Mundubile is projected to win the August election with over 70 percent of the votes.

For starters Chris Zumani Zimba was political advisor to president Edgar Lungu from 2019 until his death in 2025.

Early this year Zumani Zimba claimed that he played a key role in helping former President Edgar Lungu secure at least one million votes in the 2021 election, attributing this to his strong political strategies.

This was a PF political strategist who was at the helm when the party lost elections terribly by over a million votes.

Analysts have questioned whether he has used the same 2021 sampling of Lungu winning based on defaulting, massive indebtedness, high inflation rate, innocent murdering of people, skyrocketed commodities and unemployment.

Zumani Zimba lost elections with state apparatus in his hands and all access to the privileges of his boss incumbency.

Analyst have advised Zumani Zimba to consider going back to lecturing in political science at any University, more so that he gains practical experience of being an advisor to a former president.

Zumani Zimba should be realistic how can a political movement that failed to filled in 72 candidates win a national election? This projection is flawed especially coming from a PHD holder.

Failure to filled candidates in 33% parliamentary seats is sign of failure and lack of solid structures across the country.

How can you win with 70% when you don’t have structures? They literally have no capacity to run the country.
