The claims of irregularities in the electoral process being peddled by the losing Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile have no basis and must be dismissed outrightly.
Mundubile should accept that the ruling UPND is a truly national party that has demonstrated hard work, organisation, and persistence rather than being a product of political chance.
President Hakainde Hichilema went into the election with a clear and precise plan for the country. Throughout the campaign, the President laid out concrete policies on the economy, job creation, agriculture, and service delivery.
Political analysts say voters knew exactly what President Hichilema’s candidature stood for and what he intended to do once re-elected into office.
His clarity gave people confidence that the UPND had both the vision and the competence to move Zambia forward.
President Hichilema received votes from all the provinces because his message resonated with Zambians in urban centres, rural communities, and everywhere in between.
The nationwide backing shows that his agenda was not regional or narrow but a unifying vision for national development that voters from all corners of the country chose to endorse.
The people of Zambia have spoken clearly, and the results from across 226 constituencies reflect a decisive mandate for the UPND.
To allege theft, after the ballots have been counted, verified by party agents, and announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), is to disrespect the democratic will of voters.
The Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance argument collapses further when you consider Parliament. The UPND has secured a clear majority in the National Assembly.
The ruling UPND has 138 confirmed seats out of 224 (as two are still to be determined Mandevu and Lumezi) and won the presidential election after securing a 61% of the national vote.
It’s ironic how the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance expects to win a presidential election after securing only 58 seats from a 226 parliament?
The fact that Zambians entrusted the UPND with the legislature proves that this was a comprehensive victory, not a manipulated one as claimed.
Zambia deserves politics of maturity, not bitterness. Instead of undermining institutions and inciting doubt, the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance should accept the results, congratulate the winners.
The UPND’s parliamentary majority gives it a clear mandate to deliver. It is time to put the country first and move away from baseless allegations.
Brain Mundubile should accept defeat and urge his followers, including those inciting the people to rise against the government to accept the will of the people.
Mundubile should understand that spreading falsehoods using charlatans in diaspora will not win him votes.
