Zambians Should Heed Kalaba’s Caution on Mundubile

The Editor Zambia

The reasons given by Citizens First (CF) presidential candidate Harry Kalaba for not joining the Brian Mundubile led political alliance should not be ignored.

Kalaba clearly stated that Mundubile was surrounded by the wrong people, hence his decision not to join the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance.

Kalaba served with Mundubile in the Patriotic Front (PF) administration and resigned from the former ruling party, citing rampant corruption.

The CF leader said some people surrounding Mundubile were involved in corrupt activities when they served under sixth Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s government.

Political analysts have warned Zambians to be concerned with the return of the PF in a different form under Mundubile and Makebi Zulu’s Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance.

The same thieves that destroyed the Zambian economy are the same criminals that have regrouped under Mundubile and Makebi.

Zambians should be worried that Mundubile has publicly declared to govern the country in the manner Edgar Lungu governed.

Lungu’s rule was dogged by corruption and general maladministration of public resources. Yet Mundubile is promising Zambians to rule like Edgar Lungu. This is a strong warning to Zambians not to trust Mundubile with power as they prepare to go and vote in the August 13 elections.

Kalaba is right to recognise that the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance is a regrouping of the same people who destroyed the Zambian economy through stealing public money.

These are the same people who embraced violence, corruption, and tribalism.

Mundubile is not only surrounded by wrong people, but he is also a wrong person to promise a better Zambia free from corruption and violence when he, too, stands accused of not fulfilling his road contracts.

Mundubile explicitly said his administration would “continue from the footprint of Edgar Lungu.”

Lungu was kicked out of power for running one of the most corrupt, undemocratic, and violent regimes.

Analysts have concluded that the regrouped PF (under a new name) hates President Hakainde Hichilema with a passion for no good reasons apart from regional hegemony.

President Hichilema has delivered transformative leadership that has put Zambians first, restoring confidence in the economy that had collapsed under their watch.

Under the PF, political cadres had more power than the police. Bus stations and markets were controlled by self-appointed commanders. That should never be allowed to return because this is the legacy Mundubile and Makebi Zulu want to implement.

The country should never return to impunity, abuse of State institutions, and lawlessness that occurred under the previous administration.
