Its Bitterness

The Editor Zambia

Politicians jostling for positions in political alliances without clear agendas do not mean well for Zambia and should be ignored, so they can retire for good.

Zambia needs a crop of politicians who are truthful, realistic, and have a clear objective for the nation, not just individuals looking to dip their fingers in national coffers.

Political alliances formed with bitterness solely to remove President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND from government have no space in the current political landscape.

These Alliances are formed out of bitterness, frustration, and common hatred against President Hichilema. They have found a common and shared enemy in President Hichilema. And because of their hatred against an innocent man, the evil efforts are destined to fail. They lack a positive and constructive foundation.

Zambia has witnessed formations of alliances out of political bitterness. In most cases, these alliances are formed by people who keep jumping from one alliance to the other without clear goals.

Just like Antonio Mwanza, leader of the Democratic Progressive Party, has observed, any alliance whose only agenda is to remove President Hakainde Hichilema from office should not be supported. These are useless arrangements that only serve politicians’ selfish ambitions.

There seem to be an emergency of a crop of recycled old tired politicians jostling from one alliance to another and without any solution, but just to remove the incumbent.

Such of the many alliances is one recently announced by former minister of Health Kapembwa Simbao and economist Yusuf Dodia, who is the running mate in the set-up while Sakwiba Sikota is chairperson.

The opposition alliance leaders have failed to provide economic solutions. Instead, they spend time insulting and attacking the incumbent.

The crop of most politicians in the opposition have replaced national interest at expense of greed, personal ambition, and the scramble for political positions.

They are focused on sharing offices, allowances, contracts, and corrupt business opportunities.

Zambians are resolved to give President Hakainde Hichilema another term. All credible political indicators point to President Hichilema retaining office in this year’s general elections.

This reality demands a strategic recalibration, especially by the opposition who keeps jumping from one alliance to the other.

Zambians have expressed continued trust in President Hichilema, particularly for prioritising programmes that benefit the country such as expanded social cash transfer, meal allowances, school feeding programmes, the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and free education policy.
