the Editor Zambia

Another new opposition political alliance has been formed with no clear agenda but with a focus on removing President Hakainde Hichilema.

This year alone, this is the fourth political alliance with almost the same grouping and the same agenda but no direction.

The new alliance comprises the New Heritage Party, People’s Alliance for Change, United Liberal Party, United National Independence Party, and Zambia We Want.

The alliance under the WE’RE ONE ZAMBIA Alliance (WOZA) is chaired by United Liberal Party leader Sakwiba Sikota.

Not to long ago Sakwiba Sikota who is now ultimate expert at being part of Alliances was in another alliance called United Kwacha Alliance UKA.

In May this year Saboi Imboela, the United Kwacha Alliance Founder expelled UKA Chairperson SAKWIBA SIKOTA from the Alliance.

When we say United Party for National Development has no competition going into the August 13, 2026 general elections, this exactly what we mean.

We foresee a clear victory for President Hakainde Hichilema in next year’s elections. This will be the easiest elections President Hakainde Hichilema would participate in.

President Hichilema has no competition. This is why Oasis Forum chairperson Beauty Katebe was fuming in yesterday’s meeting with political parties.

Alliance formed so far but have not gone anywhere

  1. United Kwacha Alliance (UKA): This bloc emerged, including the Patriotic Front (PF) faction led by Edgar Lungu, the NDC (Saboi Imboela faction), and other smaller parties.

Other members included Green Party of Zambia, National Revolution Party, Revamp for Development Change, New Heritage Party, and United Liberal Party.

  1. Tonse Alliance: Another grouping formed, also involving Lungu’s PF faction, Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP), Christian Democratic Party (CDP), and several other smaller entities, with plans to select a joint presidential candidate for 2026
  2. Movement for National Renewal created by John Sangwa with the view of attaining 1 million memberships on its social media Facebook by end of December 2025.

MNR has courted the likes of Dolika Banda another new entry, Makebi Zulu, a Patriotic Front (PF) presidential aspirant among others.

  1. WE’RE ONE ZAMBIA Alliance (WOZA) is chaired by United Liberal Party leader Sakwiba Sikota.

Look at the WOZA composition. We smell a tribal ensemble here.

Chishala Kateka, Kapembwa Simbao, Andford Banda, Trevor Mwamba and Sakwiba Sikota.

Among those who could realistically unseat the President Hichilema? Being armchair critic alone cannot translate into votes.

Of course, Saki is being used again. They will kick him out very soon again. Remember behind the scene there this tactician who is former MMD national secretary.

The message crafted for Sakwiba Sikota by the tribalist using him as chairperson was that WOZA was here to unite citizens.

Sikota said WOZA will help Mother Zambia amid what he describes as rising concerns over alleged dictatorship and shrinking democratic space.

He highlights ongoing public resistance to Bill 7, complaints over restrictive cyber laws, and increasing tribal and regional tensions as key reasons for the coalition’s formation.

Sakwiba Sikota claims they want to unite the country when him and his group have rejected an olive branch and invitation for dialogue.

President Hichilema has been very clear, his open-door policy is very clear. Only tribalists a clique of well-known tribalist who feel only them deserve to rule are the ones creating this narrative.
