NCP QUITS TONSE ALLIANCE

The National Congress Party, a member of the Tonse Alliance, has pulled out of the alliance, citing greed and personal egos.

NCP president Peter Chanda said the decision was made after extensive consultations with party members across the country.

Mr. Chanda says the Tonse Alliance has strayed from its core principles, with most members placing personal interests and greed above the collective responsibility that the alliance was built upon.

He says currently anyone can call a press briefing and issue a statement without consulting other members.

Mr. Chanda observed that some members are even making appointments in the name of the late former Chairperson of the alliance, Edgar Lungu, despite him never having approved any of the claims being made today.

He says the focus and aim for now is to grow the party and stand on their own as an existing political entity.

He explains that he has taken this decision so that they can properly reorganise the party across the country.

Mr. Chanda announced that he will embark on a national tour of all 10 provinces in due course to consult members across the country on the next step the party will take.

He has made it categorically clear that after the general conference, his party will be open to work with any alliance that believes in the vision of the late former president and Tonse Alliance Chairperson Edgar Lungu.
