…among them three schools to address educational challenges
CHIKANKATA Member of Parliament, Jacqueline Sabao has handed over 10 projects constructed under Constituency Development Fund (CDF), much to the pleasure of community members in the area.
The projects which includes three schools at Kaabo in Kasengo ward where a 1×3 classroom block was built, and another 1×3 classroom block at Nkupisha Community in the same ward as well as a 1×3 classroom block at Kashimbi community in Nansenga have been delivered in an effort to address educational challenges that the district has been facing.
Meanwhile, a mother’s shelter at Chikombola Rural Health center, a Maternity Annex in Siamkobo of Musaya ward and a Health post in Kashimbi, turnpike ward have also been handed over to the community, developments aimed at addressing health challenges being faced by members of the community.
Through the same funds, a semi-detached staff house at Buche Buche School in Nzingu ward, staff house at Hapwaya in Chitete ward and a footbridge in Nzingu have also been built, including an agricultural shed at Nansenga.
Addressing the residents, Sabao said the projects which costed over five million kwacha and ranging from educational infrastructure, to healthcare and agricultural symbolize Government’s commitment to creating a community where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
And Sabao has thanked members of the community for their participation in the various projects which she said have improved the face of the district.
“Under President Hakainde Hichilema, we have witnessed a renewed focus on community development, reflecting a deep understanding of the vital role education and infrastructure play in shaping the future of our nation,” Sabao said.
Meanwhile, District Education Board Secretary, Lizzy Lweendo said the projects under education have greatly helped in ensuring that there is an increase in access to quality education that will see pupils learn in decent environments.
“The housing units also contribute to improving teacher – pupil ratio as more teachers will be provided with proper accomodations within the schools.
This is indeed a motivational factor for teachers to stay longer in Chikankata with the district being rural,” Lweendo said.
And speaking on behalf of her fellow pupils, Nora Siamasiba, a grade 11 girl child at Kaabo Secondary school said the new classroom block will improve the academic performance of learners.
She however appealed to the MP for a computer laboratory for her school so that pupils are not left behind in terms of access to electronic learning and ICT.
