THE Zambia Police Service is pleased to announce the inauguration of the Advanced Criminal Investigations Course, a significant milestone in enhancing the professional competencies of its officers in Lusaka Division.
The ceremony, officiated by the Inspector General of Police ,Mr Graphel Musamba, brought together esteemed stakeholders, including the Commanding Officer of Lusaka Division, Mr. Roy Kashimba, who was was represented by the Divisional Criminal Investigation Officer Mr. Clipper Mweetwa and the Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigations Department, Mr. Maxwell Timba as well as senior police officers from Police Headquarters.
The five days training program, generously sponsored by Musa Biscuits Limited, underscores the importance of corporate partnerships in supporting law enforcement. Speaking at the event, the Inspector General expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Yousuf Musa, the proprietor of Musa Biscuits Limited, for his unwavering commitment to advancing the capabilities of the Zambia Police Service.
The Inspector General highlighted the course’s objectives, which are geared toward equipping officers with cutting-edge skills to address emerging challenges in criminal investigations. Participants will undergo training in critical areas, including:
Fraud and Financial Investigations: Enhancing strategies to detect and prevent complex financial crimes.
Legal Updates: Understanding amendments to the Children’s Code, Criminal Procedure Code, and Penal Code to ensure alignment with current legal standards.
Interagency Collaboration: Fostering cooperation with key stakeholders such as the National Prosecution Authority and the Judiciary for a cohesive approach to justice delivery.
Notable legal experts, including Justice Chalwe Mchenga, Justice Chanda Mwamba, and Magistrate Faides Hamaundu, will deliver specialized sessions to provide participants with insights into prosecutorial feedback, legal amendments, and contemporary investigative approaches.
Addressing the participants, the Inspector General emphasized the importance of discipline, resilience, and a commitment to justice. Reflecting on his own career journey, he encouraged the officers to approach the training as an opportunity for growth and a step toward building a safer Zambia.
