State House says President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has NO intentions of blocking former President EDGAR LUNGU from contesting elections.
State House Chief Communications Specialist CLAYSON HAMASAKA says the insinuations by some opposition leaders are not only misguided but contemptuous to the Courts of Law.
In a statement to ZNBC News today, Mr. HAMASAKA said President HICHILEMA has no powers to determine who should be his opponent as eligibility of candidates is a constitutional matter.
He said it is in public domain that the question of whether or not Mr. LUNGU is eligible to contest elections is currently before the Constitutional Court, and not at State House.
Mr. HAMASAKA said it is therefore extremely contemptuous for opposition members and leaders to continue commenting on a matter that is before the courts of law.
This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Mr. HAMASAKA.
