
Kabulonga ward councillor, Kosamu Tembo has hailed the people of Lusaka Central for taking an active role in the selection of community projects that reflect the overall needs of the constituency.
Speaking when he officiated at the handover ceremony of ten (10) tents procured under the 2024 constituency development fund-CDF, community projects component, the civic leader expressed joy that the people’s voice has prevailed adding that the procured tents will go a long way in assisting the people of Kabulonga ward and the entire constituency as a whole.
Councillor Tembo disclosed that his office had been receiving numerous requests for help with tent services to aide the hosting of funerals and other social events in the ward.
“I am happy to witness this development and i think that the buying of these tents thanks to CDF is a clear demonstration of Ubuntu because as a collective, you, our community members have realised that our friends with funerals or indeed any other activities happening in the ward deserve shelter such as these tents, this will reduce the financial burden by those in need provide some level of decency,’’ remarked Tembo.
The area councillor said that it was imperative that CDF projects in the area continued to reflect the social and developmental needs of ordinary citizens if its positive impact was to be fully appreciated.
Mr. Tembo commended the Ward Development Committee members for being selfless as can be seen from their active engagement and consultation with the very ordinary, thereby resulting in the implementation of projects that are people centred.
And Ward Development Committee Chairperson Ireen Simasiku and CDFC Member Alice Nzala both took turns in sharing with community members some of the CDF milestones in the ward.
The two leaders urged the community members to handle the tents with care and follow established guidelines to support the vision of the community and ensure their longevity.
