Minister of Lands Honorable, Sylvia Masebo has applauded Chongwe Municipal Council for organizing Community sports in the district.
Honorable Masebo who is also Chongwe member of Parliament indicated that community sports will will assist in talent identification of players in the district who can also play for National Teams. 
Speaking as guest of honor during the Community Sports Tournament Final at Chongwe Primary School ground during independence Day celebration, Honorable Masebo expressed satisfaction with massive talents and high level of performance by teams in Chongwe district.
Honorable Masebo who watched the finals with His Worship the Mayor Mr. Christopher Habeenzu, expressed happiness that Chongwe Municipal Council has been one of the first districts in the country to successfully implement Community sports following the devolution of the function to the local authorities.She however indicated that she will facilitate for another Community sports tournament for similar games before the end of the year during Christmas.
Honor Masebo who presented trophies and medals to winners and players called on wards to participate fully in the Community sports tournament while Chalimbana Netball team scoped first position.
Meanwhile Katoba Football team emerged Champion in this year’s Community sports after beating Kapete Football Team by three goals to null.Madido Women Football Team is the Champion while Katoba got first position in Draft , Kapete Team is the best in Solo and Nakandindi got the first in pool.
