President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Gaborone, Botswana to attend the inauguration for Botswana’s 6th President Duma Boko.
President Hichilema, who is accompanied by senior government officials, arrived at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at about 09: 15 hours.
On hand to receive the Head of State was Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mulambo Haimbe, Advisor to the President for Politics Levy Ngoma, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Etambuyu Gundersan, Zambia’s High Commissioner to Botswana Pamela Chisenga and other government officers.
The President was accorded a quarter guard mounted by the Botswana Defence Security. President Hichilema is expected to join other Heads of State and government at the public inauguration ceremony later in the day at the national stadium. President Boko, a human rights lawyer from the Umbrella for Democratic Change party, becomes the 6th President of Botswana following a historic election that defeated Botswana Democratic Party’s Mokgweetsi Masisi whose party has been in power for nearly 60 years.
