Over one billion kwacha has not been remitted to the Treasury due to challenges being faced by ZESCO and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
Of this money, K617 million is owed to the Energy Regulations Board –ERB- by ZESCO.
And K442 million is owed to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources by those offered land in fees under the National Land Titling Programme and Property Owners who have not paid their Ground Rent.
Finance and National Planning Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE says the money owed to the ERB relates to License fees owed by ZESCO.
Dr MUSOKOTWANE was speaking in Parliament on Tuesday in response to a question from Kantanshi Member of Parliament ANTHONY MUMBA who wanted to know why one billion kwacha has not been remitted to the Treasury as of June 2024.
