President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has instructed the Food Reserve Agency-FRA and Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU to work together to ensure maize selling points are taken closer to the people.
The Head of State has also urged both elected and appointed officers to deliver to people’s expectations.
President HICHILEMA was speaking when he graced the 2024 Guta Mwenze Bbwe traditional ceremony in Chief Nyawa’s Chiefdom in Kazungula district.
The Head of State has thanked Chief Nyawa for inviting him to be guest of honour at this year’s ceremony.
President HICHILEMA has further appreciated Chief Nyawa for accepting to adjust the dates for the ceremony to allow him to attend.
He has further assured the Chief that his concerns will be addressed.
President HICHILEMA also thanked Chief Nyawa for maintaining and upholding the country’s heritage by hosting the Guta Mwenzebbwe traditional ceremony.
And President HICHILEMA has urged traditional leaders to ensure no child drops out of school.
President HICHILEMA says traditional leaders should continue to encourage their subjects to take advantage of the free education policy introduced by the government.
And Chief NYAWA of Kazungula district has appealed to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA to consider dividing Kazungula district into two.
The Chief says the district is too vast, making it hard for people to access government services.
The traditional leader says the people of Nyawa Chiefdom are excited that for the first time, the ceremony has been graced by a sitting Head of State.
Chief NYAWA has also thanked the President for supporting and attending all traditional ceremonies in the country.
He said this through his representative JOHN SIMUUBA.
And Chairperson of the GUTA MWENZE BBWE traditional ceremony, DOUGLAS MUNYANSU has thanked President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for being the first sitting President to grace the ceremony.
