THREE independent Parallel Vote Tabulations (PVTs) conducted by the church and civil society organisations have all put President Hakainde Hichilema at over 56 percent of the total vote obtained. 
This should put to bed debates about the alleged irregularities in the 13th August 2026 presidential election result.
Despite acknowledging challenges experienced in the elections, all the PVT have cleared the final results to be credible.
To date, no alternative PVT has been presented to Zambians to show that Brian Mundubile won the election. Neither the Brian Mundubile team nor its aligned civil society organizations have released any such PVT.
Brian Mundubile cannot claim victory and yet be unable to present evidence to the people. In a democracy, legitimacy comes from transparency and proof.
If Mundubile insists that he won, then he has a responsibility to show Zambians the data, the results, and the basis of that claim. Anything less undermines public trust.
All the PVTs released indicate otherwise.
According to the Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG), their PVT put President Hakainde Hichilema (UPND) at 56.0% +/- 1.7% whilst Brian Mundubile (NRPUP) at 42.3% +/- 1.7%.
The PVTs clearly show that President Hichilema received the most presidential votes and puts him at more than the 50% threshold.
Another PVT by a consortium of civil society organizations says President Hakainde Hichilema won the 2026 presidential election, with an estimated 57.9 per cent of the vote whilst Brian Mundubile was estimated to have received 40.2 per cent of the vote, compared with his official result of 37.87 per cent.
Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) said the presidential election results announced were in tandem with its own assessment, which generated a 96.9 percent election integrity index.
These estimates were generated from a scientifically selected sample of polling stations that was fully covered, allowing it to produce a national estimate while the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) was still conducting its official results aggregation.
To date, there is no PVT to show that Brian Mundubile won the election. Not even from Mundubile’s team or his aligned civil society organizations have released any such proof. Without evidence, such claims only create confusion and division at a time when the country needs to move forward in unity and focus on development.
Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance aligned civil society organisations led by Linda Kasonde and Brebner Changala should stop misleading themselves and the public about the election results.
