……Mundubile Cheap Politics Won’t Alter Credible Delimitation Outcome….
The Editor Zambia.
Tonse Alliance Leader Brian Mundubile’s assertion that most new constituencies are allocated to UPND strongholds is a cheap political statement meant to cleanse himself from shame after the delimitation went beyond his political expectations.
Mundubile’s reaction to the delimitation outcome is quite telling, he is trying to spin it as a failure, but the truth is, the process has spoken for itself.
Mundubile was peddling misinformation about the process, claiming it would favour the ruling party, but facts, and the outcome shows he is got no grounds for complaint.
Maybe instead of spreading propaganda to media houses, he should focus on building FDD support base, since PF is completely dead.
The outcome of the ECZ delimitation programme is contrary to assertions by Mundubile and his cronies that the exercise was meant to benefit the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND).
The 70 new constituencies have been equitably shared based on population, geographical realities, and cultural cohesion, unless Mundubile can release his argument backed with data and not mere hallucinations.
Even his political lumpens masquerading as alliance opposition political party leaders that criticised Bill 7 have welcomed the newly announced 70 constituencies saying the process was fairly and equally distributed.
Mundubile should instead give credit to the ECZ for conducting fair and equal distribution of 70 new constituencies.
Mundubile should give credit to President Hakainde Hichilema for allowing institutions of governance to work independently without due influence.
Politicking will not help increase his political mileage. Making such a political statement aimed at criticizing the current government’s actions where it has successfully delivered is old-fashioned politics.
Analysts argue that constituency delimitation is a technical process guided by the Constitution and the Electoral Commission’s mandate rather than a political exercise.
Mundubile wants to politicise an exercise conducted in a transparent and fair manner. His criticism does not hold water because Zambians have appreciated the process.
The Tonse Alliance, led by Mundubile, has been critical of the government, such as using propaganda and lies to champion his agenda.
We challenge Mundubile to release detailed evidence and analysis of his claims, failure to which people will not take him seriously.
The Commission’s efforts to ensure fair representation have clearly paid off, and now Mundubile is being forced to eat his words.
How does Mundubile explain a situation where Eastern Province, which is not a predominant traditional stronghold for the ruling party, received an additional nine new constituencies?
The commission created nine new constituencies in Southern and Eastern Provinces, eight in Central and Copperbelt provinces, while North-Western and Western provinces have seven each. Lusaka, Muchinga, and Northern provinces have six each, while Luapula has the least five new constituencies.
