Here are the facts:
- The 1964 Constitution – enacted on 24th October 1964. The general elections were held in January this very year (1964). The constitution was enacted ten months after elections, meaning the review started few months before the 1964 general elections.
- The 1973 Constitution – enacted on 25th August 1973, four months before the general elections which were held in December 1973.
- The 1991 Constitution – enacted on 30th August 1991, two months before general elections which were held in October 1991
- The 1996 Constitution – enacted on 28th May 1996, six months before the general elections which were held on 18th November 1996.
- The 2016 Constitution, which is currently in effect was enacted on 5th January 2016, seven months before the general elections which were held on 11th August 2016.
