PATRIOTIC Front acting president Given Lubinda has instructed all PF and aligned independent members of parliament to boycott the Official Opening of the Fifth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly this Friday, 12th September 2025.
Inside sources say Lubinda has instructed his faction aligned MPs to walk out on President Hakainde Hichilema tomorrow during the annual ceremonial event at parliament buildings.
Sources have disclosed that Matero member of parliament Miles Sampa and his Lunte counterpart Mutotwe Kafwaya have been tasked to execute the directive.
However, political commentators have cautioned that boycotting the official opening of the National Assembly has consequences, and they should not play victim when punishment is mitted on them.
PF members of parliament have been advised that while boycotts are permissible under parliamentary practice, the official opening of Parliament was however a solemn and auspicious occasion, which requires all Members of the House to be present and be at their best behavior.
