THE Patriotic Front (PF) thrives in confusion and anarchy. The behaviour of the former ruling party is not different from that of terrorist group.
Leaders and the general membership of PF believes in causing confusion and anarchy.
One would wonder why the PF hid late former President Edgar Lungu’s sickness until his last day of life.
Political commentators wonder why it has become fashionable for the former ruling party to hide their leaders’ sickness from the public.
The PF played the same mantis moves when fifth Republican President Michael Chilufya Sata fell sick. The then ruling party insisted that Mr. Sata was in good health. With no remorse, PF leaders forced Mr. Sata, who was visibly sick, to officially open parliament.
The PF founding president was presented him to the public in his poor health condition, frail and looking very sick.
Zambians may not forget what PF leaders such as Raphael Nakachinda, Given Lubinda, Sean Tembo, and others said about Mr. Lungu’s health while the former head of State was in South Africa.
On April 11, 2025, we analysed the PF’s behaviour and mishandling of its leaders, Mr. Michael Sata and Edgar Lungu.
For those who still believe the party has reformed, nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, the party has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to anarchy, leveraging its notorious lieutenants to perpetuate hooliganism and lawlessness.
The circumstances surrounding the death of former President Edgar Lungu have laid bare the true nature of the Patriotic Front.
We are a nation governed by laws, and it is disheartening to see former Justice Minister Given Lubinda, now Vice President of a faction of the PF, advocating for anarchy and disregard for the established procedures surrounding the funeral of the former President.
The PF’s current claims that President Lungu was denied the opportunity to seek medical attention abroad starkly contrast with their earlier assertions that the former president was not ill but merely on holiday in South Africa
We want to account what this group of dishonest, irresponsible, untrustworthy, and malfeasant clique said before the demise of president Lungu.

PF dismissed widespread speculations regarding former Mr. Lungu’s health, insisting that he was well and that he was merely undergoing routine medical review in South Africa.
Speaking on Diamond TV’s Breakfast Show, PF faction chairman for Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Mwamba, reassured the public that the former Head of State was in good health and not admitted to any hospital, contrary to circulating reports suggesting otherwise.
“President Lungu is not hospitalised. He is in South Africa for a routine medical check-up and is staying in a private apartment, not a health facility,” Mwamba stated.
On 23 April 2025
PF faction secretary general Raphael Nakacinda said Mr. Lungu was out of the country to take a break from the disrespect and aggressive attempts to treat him as an ordinary citizen.
And Mr. Nakacinda also assured the citizens to brace themselves for more of his arrests under the Cybercrime Act.
Speaking on Diamond TV’s Diamond Live show, Monday, Nakacinda said Mr. Lungu was in good health.
“The only thing I can tell you is that President Edgar Lungu, by God’s grace, is in good health, and he is out of the jurisdiction because we have collectively, deliberately decided that he needed a bit of a break from all the nonsense he was subjected to because of the disrespect, and dishonour he has been subjected to.
On 10 April 2025
PF condemned Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana for revealing that Mr. Lungu had cancer and was on treatment in South Africa.
PF faction acting deputy secretary general Brenda Nyirenda said it was uncultured for the Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary to reveal the former president’s health status.
In an interview that Wednesday, Ms. Nyirenda said health issues demanded that an individual was given privacy. “I find his comment to be very annoying and also childish because every person has got a right to privacy. For him to start saying that he is on chemotherapy.
On 29 May 2025
PF secretary general Raphael Nakacinda insisted that the former president was not unwell but is simply resting.
On that same day, State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka said the country should not stress the former president with politics but rather pray for his quick recovery.
Reacting on the remarks, Mr. Nakacinda questioned where Mr. Hamasaka had gotten the information that the former president was sick, stating that he should not be making assumptions. “Maybe they are wishing that he would be sick. Because how can you be saying he is unwell, he needs to recover, somebody who has not told you whether they are sick or not? Where are they getting that information? “
After the passing of the former president, the PF leaders have changed their hymn and are now questioning the absence of government help in Mr. Lungu’s illness. Why are PF leaders claiming otherwise now?
How did PF behave during President Mr. Sata’s health condition? Here is a quick background.
Events surrounding former President Michael Sata’s health in 2014 are similar to Mr. Lungu’s illness.
There PF kept Mr. Sata’s health status as a secret, hiding him from public view.
On May 25th, 2013, during the African Freedom Day celebrations, President Sata appeared frail, fueling speculations about his health. His absence at the official opening of Heroes Stadium further fueled rumours about his poor health.
The PF government was criticised and condemned for spreading misinformation regarding the president’s health.
The PF mafias kept Mr. Sata away from the public eye, including from his vice president Guy Scott, who had not seen his friend for several months. This is according to the former vice president Guy Scott in his hard-hitting political memoir “Adventure in Zambian Politics, A Story in Black & White”
Mr. Scott, a putative close friend of Sata, takes the reader inside the presidential bedroom where he found Mr. Sata was very sick and bedridden, and yet the nation, including himself as vice president, was not told.
For six months, Mr. Sata never appeared in public. He only appeared during the official opening of Parliament, looking worn out, frail, and had lost weight, but the PF remained mute.
If not tamed by the end of Mr. Lungu’s funeral, the PF will set a new record of denting the image of the country to the outside world.
How do you insist on stagging a funeral of a former head of State at the unsanitary party secretariat?
Why would Given Lubinda issue instructions that the funeral can only be held at the facility of a ruling party?
The PF will never change. The former ruling party thrives in organised chaos. They are used to cause confusion and anarchy. One would imagine the PF coming back to power with leaders like Given Lubinda and Raphael Nakachinda… God forbid! Not these anarchists
