The A-Team of the Tonse Alliance has accused Alliance Secretary-General Raphael Nakachinda and Vice Chairman Given Lubinda of holding secret meetings with the Socialist Party to take over the leadership of the alliance.
The two senior members are alleged to have had a series of meetings with the Socialist Party without the knowledge or approval of the Tonse Alliance and its chairman, Edgar Lungu.
Alliance Spokesperson Sean Tembo, a self-proclaimed Chola boy of President Lungu, alleged that the meetings in question were unauthorized by the alliance.
He said the meetings only came to light after some pictures were leaked.
Others seeking to clear their names include Socialist Party leader Fred M’membe, although he has not yet been admitted to the alliance.
The controversy erupted after an audio recording was leaked, allegedly featuring senior Socialist Party leaders plotting to take control of the alliance.
According to the recording, they planned to remove Chairman Edgar Lungu, who is currently hospitalized in Johannesburg, and install themselves in leadership positions
An audio recording is currently circulating on social media, in which senior officials of the Socialist Party, including the Chairperson for International Relations, Akende M’membe, and the National Youth Chairman, Kelvin Kaunda, along with other unidentified individuals, are allegedly plotting to hijack the Alliance.
According to Tembo, in order to thoroughly investigate this serious matter, the Tonse Alliance has constituted an Ad Hoc Disciplinary Committee, as per Article 23(i) of its Constitution.
He said the committee will probe the allegations and recommend appropriate action to the Alliance Council of Leaders, effective immediately.
The Alliance has since written to Socialist Party President Dr. Fred M’membe, seeking his explanation regarding the alleged plot, reportedly hatched by his party members and other unknown individuals, against the Tonse Alliance

Internal Leadership conflicts within the PF faction are evident. Some members, like Given Lubinda and Raphael Nakachinda, have formed a pact, claiming they’ve been instrumental in keeping the party afloat. Its evident now with the plot to hound them out of the alliance.
Meanwhile, others, like Brain Mudunbile and his allies, are opposed to Kelvin Bwalya Fube’s involvement, labeling him a traitor. NCP Leader Peter Chanda is also asserting his leadership role within the alliance.
