Hichilema meets experts, stakeholders to strengthen food security

UPON returning from the Energy Summit in Tanzania yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema couldn’t even take a rest as he convened a meeting with government experts and stakeholders to strengthen food security in the country.

Following the country’s worst drought in years, President Hichilema said government is committed to reinforcing food security measures to shield the nation from future climate induced crises.

The Head of State shared that the primary focus of the meeting was on enhancing irrigation systems, boosting agricultural production and improving overall productivity across the country.

He said the strategic approach which government wants to adopt ensures sustainable food security, regardless of prevailing weather conditions.

The meeting aligns with what the President recently shared on how government is keen on shifting reliance from rain fed agriculture to more resilient and sustainable practices.

This is according to a statement issued on n President Hichilema’s page monitored by Kalemba.

“Our primary focus is on enhancing irrigation systems, boosting agricultural production, and improving overall productivity across the country.

“This strategic approach ensures sustainable food security, regardless of prevailing weather conditions,” he shared.
