The Pemba Town Council has commissioned four development projects valued at over 2 million Kwacha, funded by the 2024 Constitution Development Fund (CDF).
The projects include an ablution block at Japi Primary School, a boarding house at Siazwela Primary School, a water scheme in Demu, and a staff house at Malamba Primary School.
Pemba Member of Parliament, Lameck Hamajata, emphasized the importance of protecting these projects to ensure they benefit future generations.
“Government is committed to delivering development to every part of the country, but for these constructed projects to stand the test of time, residents should jealously guard them,” Hamajata said.
Pemba District Commissioner, Obey Habeenzu, urged government officials to embrace community participation to get diverse views from the community when delivering development projects. “Community participation is key to ensuring that development projects meet the needs of the local people,” Habeenzu noted.
The commissioning of these projects is a significant milestone in the development of Pemba District.
The projects are expected to improve the lives of residents, particularly in the areas of education, health, and water supply.
The Pemba Town Council has pledged to continue working with the government and other stakeholders to bring more development projects to the district.
The community has welcomed the projects, expressing gratitude to the government and the Pemba Town Council for their efforts.
The projects are a testament to the government’s commitment to delivering development to all parts of the country.
