ELECTRICITY GENERATION PROJECTS

In 2023 one of Zambia’s largest non traditional export was electricity at USD364 million.

Zambia is working to end load shedding and make electricity one of its major exports by expanding and diversifying power generation.

Electricity is key to support industrial growth and economic diversfication. The projects below are either under implementation or have had feasibility studies done and reviewed: 1) 50 MW solar power project in Kafue District by Wendit Group.

2) 16.8MW Chipili and 6MW Chilongo hydropower project in Kawambwa District by Virunga Power Holdings Ltd.

3) 175MW waste to energy power project in Chongwe District by IIB-DG Genniz Engineering Ltd.

4) 25MW hydro and solar hybrid power project in Kawambwa District by B&W Consulting Ltd.

5) 18.3MW hydroelectric project in Mwinilunga District by Synergy Contracting Zambia Ltd.

6) 30MW Wamba hydroelectric power project in Kafue District by Texxon Energy Ltd.

7) 72MW Chamana Coal Fired power project in Sinazongwe District.

8) 50MW solar PV power project in Sesheke District by Sevenyrds Energy Ltd.

9) 250MW Maposa solar PV power project in Luanshya District by MSR Power Solutions.

10) 12MW Kapamba hydroelectric power project in Mpika District by Atlantic Commodities Ltd.

11) 300MW solar PV power project in Serenje District by Ultra Green Corporation Zambia Ltd.

12) 75MW Waste to Energy power project in Chongwe District by IIB-DG Genniz Engineering Zambia Ltd.

13) 150MW solar and wind Masaiti Hybrid Energy Center by Upepo Energy Zambia Limited in Masaiti District.

14) 200MW Unika I Wind power project in Katete District by Mphepo Power Ltd.

15) 25MW Ilute solar PV power project in Sesheke District by Western Solar Company Ltd.

16) The Phase II 300MW Maamba Coal Fired power project in Maamba District by Maamba Collieries Ltd.

17) 150MW Ngonye Fall hydroelectric power project in Sioma District by Western Power Company Ltd.
