Mwanza was charged and arrested following a complaint by Daisy Lufumpa, alleging that she posted insulting and defamatory remarks about her on a Facebook page.

On November 11, 2024, Lufumpa filed a formal complaint with the police, stating that the post falsely suggested she was engaged in illicit activities, accompanied by other libelous statements.

The police opened an inquiry, leading to Mwanza’s apprehension on November 20, 2024. She was detained, granted police bond, and is scheduled to appear in court.

The Zambia Police Service reminds the public to exercise caution and responsibility when using electronic communication platforms, as harassment and dissemination of defamatory content are serious offenses under Zambian law.
