Chanoda Ngwira, another tribalist from the Umodzi Kumwa grouping, has expressed concern over the Speaker’s pronouncement, which gives J Banda a seven-day ultimatum to appear in the House or risk having his Petauke Central parliamentary seat declared vacant.

Governance Activist Isaac Mwanza has also questioned the Speaker’s decision, Nelly Mutti, to give fugitive Petauke Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jay Banda seven days to report to the House or have his seat declared vacant.

The question remains, why is the Patriotic Front so jittery about the ultimatum? Notably, the Speaker has not declared the seat vacant but merely stated that the lawmaker, who has been absent from the House since August, should report or risk having his seat declared vacant.

At the Editor Zambia, we feel vindicated, as we previously said the abduction story was fake.

Jay Banda, who faces aggravated robbery charges, escaped from lawful custody. Banda escaped from Chipata General Hospital Sunday evening around 22:00 hours, where he was receiving medical treatment on August 5th 2024.
