Sixth President Edgar Lungu has left Lusaka for Kawambwa today, with a planned stopover in Kabwe to meet former Kawambwa parliamentarian Nickson Chilangwa.
Meanwhile, a scheme is allegedly being planned to cause public disorder during the nomination process for the Kawambwa parliamentary by-election on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Reports indicate that thugs disguised as Lungu’s security detail have already been sent to Kawambwa constituency to incite violence.
According to Sean Tembo Alliance spokesperson, Lungu intends to offer moral support to Chilangwa, who was convicted of causing damage and injuries during the 2021 general elections.
Tembo said the Tonse Alliance leaders will travel to Kawambwa to escort and show solidarity with the TONSE parliamentary candidate during the nomination filing on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Additionally, Lungu plans to use the New Congress Party (NCP) for the 2026 general elections.
Tembo, revealed that the alliance will utilize the NCP to field candidates for the upcoming by-elections in Kawambwa, Chililabombwe, and Shang’ombo.
