NALOLO Town Council (NTC) has set aside funds amounting to K2.6 million for the construction of an abattoir to help generate revenue for the Local Authority.
The resolution was made during the Third Ordinary Council Meeting held at Muoyo Resource Centre at Muoyo Primary School on Monday.
Recently, a team of officers from the Local Authority was dispatched to Namwala Town Council in Southern Province to learn how their counterparts are generating revenue from the abattoir.
Speaking during the meeting, NTC Director of Planning, Robson Banda said the Council has since written to the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) through the Kuta requesting for land where the abattoir will be constructed.
And Kambai Ward Councillor, Mbangu Mbututu who is Council Deputy Chairperson who chaired the meeting commended the council management for the initiative to construct an abattoir to help generate revenue to improve service delivery.
Councillor Mbututu said the council has no proper local revenue sources hence the construction of an abattoir is a step in the right direction to expand its revenue base.
He urged the council management to ensure that all the proposed capital projects are implemented.
Meanwhile, Nalolo Town Council (NTC) has resolved to channel about K3 million to put up solar-powered street lights on the newly constructed 3.2 kilometers Muoyo Road from the Council barrier to the harbour.
