NALOLO Town Council (NTC) has paid out a total of K258, 820 to 351 beneficiaries under the Cash For Work (CFW) programme to avert hunger in communities following the drought experienced in the 2023/2024 season.
Nalolo Town Council Public relations officer Buttyson Kandimba disclosed that the payments for the month of August were done in September after the community projects that were identified to be done in various wards were thoroughly inspected and certified by officers from the Council.
Mr kandimba adds that of the total amount, K110, 040 has been paid out to 84 beneficiaries in Nalolo West Bank while K118, 680 has been paid out to 217 beneficiaries in Nalolo East Bank.
He said the Local Authority would like to acknowledge the challenges encountered to process payments for beneficiaries especially those in the West Bank using ZAMTEL numbers which is being resolved with the mobile service provider.
,’’So far, a total of K30, 100 has been paid out to 50 beneficiaries using the ZAMTEL numbers and all the other beneficiaries will receive their money once the technical challenge is resolved,’’said Kandimba.
He urged all listed beneficiaries under the Cash for Work programme who are using ZAMTEL numbers to remain calm as the issue is receiving adequate attention from both the Council and the network provider.
Key among the community projects that have been identified to be undertaken under the Cash For Work programme in Nalolo District includes; clearing of canals, cleaning and expansion of public road infrastructure as well as rehabilitation of mud and pole infrastructure at public institutions.
