Tonse Alliance Engage International Civil Society to Discredit UPND.

The Editor Zambia

The Opposition Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance has hired a London-based firm, Global Witness, to release fabricated report to discredit the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), alleging that it, with support from a mining firm, offered millions to bribe opposition figures.

According to impeccable sources, the report contains allegations that opposition politicians were offered bribes and that millions of dollars were channelled toward campaign financing.

Global Witness has previously released reports close to election periods in other countries.

In 2025, the organisation published reports shortly before elections in Romania, Germany, and Poland.

A clandestine operation is led by fugitive discredited ex- diplomat Emmanuel Mwamba working on a broader attempt to discredit the ruling party.

Weeks ago, Mwamba was in the United Kingdom to engage the association to undertake and produce a propaganda report on the scheduled elections. Familiar sources have disclosed that Mwamba was in the UK to liaise with the same organisation on how to manufacture lies against the UPND government and cook up a report in an attempt to push for regime change.

The fugitive propagandist is using a UK based non-governmental organisation to release a series of allegations relating to the UPND and the country’s mining sector.

Global Witness is preparing to release a report ahead of Zambia’s general election that makes a series of allegations relating to the UPND and the country’s mining sector.

Global Witnes receives funding from a development arm of the Norwegian Government, including support for programmers focused on tax policy and governance reforms.

Sources familiar with the matter say the Zambia report is expected to be released during the election period.

Some local civil society groups have been positioned to amplify this cooked and doctored report, aimed to turnish Zambia’s image in the face of the international community.

Some named Norwegian funded civil society groups in Zambia will lead the propaganda campaign to discredit government and the ruling party.

This is part of the wide broder propaganda mechanism by Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance to discredit President Hakainde Hichilema ahead of the elections.

According to the report, some of the allegations centre on alleged financial support for the UPND by Canadian mining company First Quantum Minerals (FQM).

FQM is Zambia’s largest private sector employer and contributed an estimated US$3.46 billion to the Zambian economy in 2025.

The report, however, states that Global Witness does not allege any Zambian domestic or electoral laws have been broken.

The ruling UPND media teams should be prepared to counter the lies.
