RP Cadres clobber NRPUP Ndola Central Candidate

The Editor Zambia

The National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP)’s Ndola Central Constituency candidate, Joseph Chilinda, was beaten to a pulp by Resolute Party cadres yesterday in Chipulukusu, where Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu were attending a church service.

Divisions have continued to emerge within the opposition alliance as factions aligned to Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu reportedly engage in bitter infighting in Ndola.

The incident that happened right outside the church where the two leaders were congregating has exposed the deep-rooted division and pretence purporting that the alliance is united.

This incident happened in the aftermath of the Kitwe rally, where RP cadres slapped Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) spokesperson Antony Chibuye in full view of Makebi Zulu and Brian Mundubile.

NRPUP candidate Joseph Chilinda was assaulted by bodyguards linked to Emmanuel Mulenga, the Resolute Party’s parliamentary candidate for Ndola Central.

The confusion has been fueled by the indecision of the two leaders, their fear, and the pretence that they are united.

Candidates affiliated to Makebi Zulu’s Resolute Party have been implicated in incidents of violence against candidates from the National Revolution Party United Party (NRPUP).

The two leaders, both from the former ruling party, the violent PF, have failed to stop the violence in the alliance and as a result, they are putting people’s lives at risk due to their lack of leadership.

Analysts say this is a warning to Zambians that the two have not repented from the bad PF leadership. Instead, they want to come and continue with the violent way of doing politics.

The attack and assaulting of the two leaders within the alliance is an indication that former PF leaders have not repented from their violent behaviours.

Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu are graduates of the PF rule handbook. The fact that they cannot control their violent cadres is a warning to Zambians.

Political commentators have warned that the country must never return to impunity, abuse of State institutions, and lawlessness that characterized the PF rule.

Anyone who served in a senior role under the PF regime is unqualified to promise good governance today.
