……….Mundubile, Zulu do not trust each other or share any political ideology to form a formidable team to challenge HH…..

The political courtship between Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu is the marriage of convenience driven by political survival and tribalism rather than shared ideology.

Mundubile & Makebi yesterday filed in their nominations for this August’s polls as presidential candidate & running mate, respectively.

The two former Patriotic Front (PF) ministers are not bringing anything new to the political landscape as these are the same tribal and corrupt leadership that was rejected in 2021.

Prior to this political partnership, the two individuals saw themselves as the rightful leaders of the PF. They fought day and night over the carcass of the former ruling party.

How can Zambians vote for the same people they kicked out for corruption, economic mismanagement, political violence, selective justice, youth unemployment, rising costs of living, removal of meal allowances, shutting down schools and social frustration?

In Zambia, elections are not won like that. Someone cannot just wake up and say Zambians have already decided – that’s lunacy at the highest level.

In a general election, the party ideology, its manifesto, policies, and election promises are important to the electorate for them to make correct voting decisions.

Analysts have predicted a humiliating defeat of the two in the August elections.

They say the two will be given a whitewash by the incumbent, President Hakainde Hichilema in the August 13 general elections.

For starters, here’s a brief recent political history, it took Michael Chilufya Sata 10 years in opposition to win the 2011 general elections. Sata participated in four elections, having lost three before he became president. It took the incumbent Predident Hakainde Hichilema 15 years in opposition to win the presidency after participating in six elections.

Commentators say, objectively looking at the current political terrain, President Hakainde Hichilema is the most popular politician in Zambia.

President Hichilema is not just a politician. He is a household name who has brought transformation to Zambia’s economic landscape and social justice to Zambians.

The opposition can unite all they dream, group them together Mundubile, Harry Kalaba, Fred M’membe, Makebi Zulu, Kelvin Fube Bwalya, aka KBF and others all put together they cannot compete with President Hichilema.

Makebi Zulu and Brian Mundubile should work towards sustaining their partnership beyond August 2026 to possibly put up a strong competition in 2031.

Hallucinations that Zambians have already decided and are waiting for the opposition to unite are mere woolgathering and fantasying.

What are the ideologies of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity?

What are the political and societal ideologies of the NRPUP? What do they believe in rconomic liberalism, social populism, Christian conservatism, and Humanism?

Where is the manifesto of this party?

Zambians have moved from the politics of chimwela, where someone without a vision or plan for a country is assured into.

How can someone whose party does not have a branch at the provincial level dream of winning a general election?

The two should work towards sustaining their partnership beyond August 2026.

Alliances & leadership in general cannot thrive where suspicion and personal ambition dominate. One camp was accusing the other of being a UPND project.

If they stick together beyond August 2026, they should use their time in opposition to learn to work together as partners rather than rivals. Only then will be a possibility in 2031.
