Airtel told to address network challenges on the Copperbelt

ZANIS-Copperbelt Province Minister, Elisha Matambo, has urged Airtel Networks Zambia to work on the network challenges currently being experienced in the province.

Mr. Matambo said the poor network is slowing down financial transactions in the area.

Speaking at his office in Ndola in the Copperbelt Province, Mr. Matambo cited Lufwanyama district as one of the districts that is struggling with network challenges.

He disclosed that among some of the challenges faced in the said district was payment of people on cash-for-work programme which requires people to be paid using mobile money services.

Mr Matambo stated that despite Copperbelt Province having a higher number of MTN users, there is need for Airtel to work on the network challenge to increase the network productivity.

And Airtel Networks Zambia Managing Director, Hussam Baday, disclosed that the management is working on the challenge to increase the network services in the country.

Mr Baday said the service provider is also considering installing network towers in underserved areas to improve the quality of service.
