AFTER months of silence and endless speculation, Chipolopolo forward Fashion Sakala has finally unzipped his lips to share why he was missing from national team duty.
While fans and football enthusiasts were busy pointing fingers and guessing why the Saudi Arabia-based striker keeps dodging the Chipolopolo call, Sakala revealed that his absence has nothing to do with pride, attitude, or being too big for Zambia, but everything to do with betrayal at the top.
In a Facebook live stream today on his official page, the 2017 U-20 AfCON champion, claimed that the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga had promised him a return to the team and even hinted that coach Avram Grant would be dealt with.
But instead of honouring that promise, Sakala alleged that Kamanga resorted to sending middle men to coax him into apologising to Grant, a move the player saw as dishonest.
He also cleared the air about accusations that he disrespected his teammates by complaining that FAZ was not promoting his performances abroad.
He said Kamanga failed to act on the information he provided about players being threatened by Grant and his Israeli agent to sign with his football agency but instead opted to remain silent, despite his position as a leader.
“If Kamanga is honest, he should apologise first, not me alone. I will not take the blame for something we both planned,” insisted Fashion, without clearly stating what was initially planned.
