ZNS is here to give you value for your money – Solochi

ZAMBIA National Service commander, Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi has assured both government and private entities that engage ZNS in any construction works that they will enjoy the value for their money.

Lt Gen Solochi said the service’s priority is to ensure they provide quality services and ensure that the prices are favourable.

Lt Gen Solochi said the service would continue to supplement and support efforts by the Government towards infrastructure development.

He has since thanked the Road Development Agency (RDA) board chairperson, Mulchand Kuntawala for engaging the ZNS team to do the construction of the bridge.

Lt Gen Solochi said he was ready to be deployed to any region, no matter how remote or challenging, as ZNS was established to serve the nation.

“Our thrust, therefore, is to be engaged in programmes that contribute to increased economic activities, especially in remote and rural parts of the country, and subsequently to the general development of our great nation,” he said.

The general said the scoop of work for the project included the construction and installation of a 30.76 meter span acrow bridge across the Kanchibiya river, along with the building of 100 meters embankment.

“It is noted that while there is need for us to generate revenue from these commercial projects for our land development branch to remain sustainable, our top priority, is to live up to our mandate as a national service,” he said.

He added that the project also created employment for 30 local workers, thereby empowering the community and contributing to increased economic activities locally.

Meanwhile the RDA board chairperson, Kuntawala said the construction of the bridge cost them K8.3 million.

He said the Agency with the support from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development had intensified the implementation of the acrow Bridge programme.

Kuntawala said the construction and installation of Acrow Bridges gained momentum and the Agency was making tremendous strides in ensuring that all the 131 bridges which have been procured and stored at the workshop in Lusaka were constructed and installed at the designated crossing points countrywide.

“The construction works were being supervised by the RDA Muchinga Province office as the project manager’s representative to ensure that the construction was in line with the specifications stipulated and completed within the timeline and cost,” said Kuntawala.
