A FIVE year old girl of Lusaka’s Mtendere Compound is in anguishing pain and admitted to the University Teaching Hospital after a traumatic ordeal of being gang raped by four men in her neighbourhood.
Impeccable sources told Kalemba that the innocent child is currently receiving medical treatment at the UTH as authorities work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The incident which occurred on March 11, 2025, came to light after the girl’s parents noticed their child experiencing severe discomfort when using the toilet with the way she was answering the call of nature frequently. 
The child would also mess herself up before using the toilet.
The sources said, initially the parents mistook the symptoms for diarrhea.
However, it was later revealed that the young girl had been subjected to a brutal and repeated assault, where the four men repeatedly inserted their private parts into the anus of the child.
Traumatised by what she had gone through and fearing for her life, the child had been too scared to speak out as the perpetrators had reportedly threatened to kill her if she ever dared disclose the incident.
Kabwata police have since arrested two of the four suspects involved in the crime and the apprehended individuals have been identified as 22 year old Willy Phiri and Lawrence Phiri, aged 20, both residents of Mtendere East.
A manhunt has been launched for the remaining two suspects who are still at large.
Efforts to get a full police report from police public relations officer Rae Hamoonga proved futile as calls and text messages went unanswered.
