CHIENGI Member of Parliament Given Katuta who has launched an anti youth campaign against youths who are aspiring for parliamentary seats in 2026 has urged her fellow aged MPs to gang up against the youths so as to ensure that their doors to public office are closed.
Katuta vowed to ensure that her fellow MPs buy into her idea of being the villain in the future of youth leaders so as to secure both her seat and that of her incumbent colleagues.
She charged that most youths are not capable of being leaders, accusing them of being hungry for power and money.
“I have been forced to share this video with you. In Bemba we say, you cannot start insulting the crocodile before you cross to the other side. I want to speak to all MPs and I want to say look at how the youths are coming and we are the ones in parliament making laws, the way we ageee when we are talking about ka something is how we should agree.”
“We should not be like our colleagues who agreed to no Grade 12 certificate. The youths are not joking and are saying 2026 is time for the youths. Who’s going to give them that chance? Let’s not give them that chance, let’s not just say hear hear. They are excited for nothing and we are the ones in charge,” stated Katuta.
She further condemned the idea that most youths are coming up with ideas to put term limit for MPs of up to 10 years to allow fresh minds to take over.
Katuta said MPs should not allow such to happen as it will affect them negatively.
“All MPs, including the speaker, there is no one is young, no one is a youth. Let’s guard our interest. We should never risk our seats. If you are not 35, count yourself out of the youth. You will find yourselves out let’s not let the youths in. Don’t say yeah yeah,” she said.
