MALAWI FUEL PRICES HIGHER THAN ZAMBIA

Contrary to claims by Chipangali Council Chairperson Maxson Nkhoma that petrol in Malawi costs 18 Zambian Kwacha, the actual price is significantly higher.

As of today, petrol costs 2,530 Malawian Kwacha, according to a local driver in Lilongwe. The driver emphasized that prices are skyrocketing every day, making life difficult for many.

To put the price difference into perspective, the current exchange rate is approximately 1 Malawian Kwacha = 0.02 Zambian Kwacha.

This means that 2,530 Malawian Kwacha is equivalent to around 41 Zambian Kwacha, not 18 as claimed by Maxwell Nkhoma.

Nkhoma recently urged authorities to stop mistreating Zambians who cross into Malawi to buy fuel at lower prices.

However, it’s worth noting that many drivers are resorting to buying fuel on the black market, which is often contaminated and unsafe for vehicles.
