A 25-year-old man of Messengers Compound in Livingstone is under Police radar after he sodomized a 10-year-old boy following a local soccer match.
The incident was reported to Livingstone Central Police Station on 2nd February 2025 by the victim’s father after his son complained of pain on the private part.
Confirming the development in a statement to Byta FM News, Southern Province Commissioner of Police Auxensio Daka notes that on the material day, the victim had gone to watch soccer at Bharat Sports Complex.
Daka says after the match, the suspect asked the victim to escort him to his place in Messengers Compound but on their way, he decided that they use the route that cuts through the Livingstone Golf Course.
He relays that as they were walking within the golf course, the suspect undressed the boy and had carnal knowledge of him against the order of nature, threatening before committing that act that he would beat him if he refused to cooperate.
Daka conveys that whilst they were in the act, a named Police Officer from Libuyu Police Station was coincidentally passing through the golf course and saw two people lying on the ground.
When the Officer drew closer, they got up and started dressing, with the suspect fleeing soon after.
Daka says the Officer picked up the victim and managed to locate his parents.
Meanwhile, Daka states that this is the second case of sodomy reported at Livingstone Central Police Station within a week after the incident that occurred on 26th January 2025 around 19:00 hours at Hillcrest Technical Secondary School involving pupils.
