A 65-year-old man from Kachingwe Village in Chipata District, Eastern Province, was found brutally murdered in his home on January 30, 2025, with his right ear, left arm, and four fingers on his left hand missing.
According to Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, the victim, Edward Phiri, was last seen alive and in good health on January 27, 2025, around 14:00 hours. 
His body was later discovered with severe injuries.
Police officers who visited the scene found him lying face down, confirming the gruesome nature of the attack.
Mr. Phiri’s body has since been buried, with his grave marked for further investigation.
Authorities have launched a probe into the murder, but the motive remains unclear, and no arrests have been made.
