A ZAMBIA Air Force (ZAF) flight sergeant with an alleged appetite for his own offspring will remain behind bars until the conclusion of a case he is accused of defiling and impregnating his 14-year old daughter.
The Lusaka Magistrates Court fears that granting the man bail will put his daughter and wife who are star witnesses against him since they stay in the same house.
The court ruled that if given bail, there was a high possibility that the suspect might interfere with the witnesses if he was to return home. 
As bail hearing came up, state prosecutor, Joe Phiri opposed the application.
“We object the application of bail, it is in the best interest of the child, if granted bail he will go back to the house where the victim is, we pray that bail is not granted to him. If granted give the condition that he will not interfere with the witnesses,” Phiri submitted.
But the accused through his lawyer, Zeko Kawana said he does not stay in the same house with the child.
“The accused is not staying in the house where such an offence occurred, the said child was taken to a safe place where the accused doesn’t know and can’t have access to the said child. Accused will abide with all the instructions given by the court,” Zeko said.
Ruling on the matter, the court rejected the bail pending trial fearing that he might truly interfere with witnesses.

The victim is currently 28 weeks pregnant.
The suspect aged 41 appeared before resident magistrate, Kawama Mwamfuli, and pleaded not guilty to incest contrary to Section 159 (1) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Earlier, Police public relations officer, Rae Hamoonga said in a statement that in August last year, on unknown dates but between 1 and 31, the suspect returned home drunk and went straight to his daughter’s bedroom, where she was sleeping with her younger sibling aged seven.
Hamoonga said the suspect had a knife, which he used to threaten his daughter if she screamed.
After threatening her, he then asked the victim to get off the bed and get on the floor, where he allegedly defiled her.
Hamoonga said the daughter failed to scream for help as the suspect was holding a knife in one hand.
The victim did not disclose to her mother until it was discovered that she was pregnant.
According to the Police, the matter was reported on January 8, 2025 around 12:50 hours by the victim’s mother.
It is alleged that GM on dates unknown but between August 1 and 31, 2024 in Lusaka had unlawful carnal knowledge of a female namely JM, knowing the same to be his biological daughter.
Trial commences on March 12, 2025
