HOME Affairs and Internal Security minister Jack Mwiimbu has warned the public against spreading falsehoods on President Hakainde Hichilema’s health stating that those behind the articles will face the full wrath of the law.
This comes in the wake of social media speculations stating that President Hichilema is unwell.
Mwiimbu said those spreading such rumors online or offline will have to face the full wrath of the law regardless of their status in society.
He assured the nation that the Head of State President is well and in good health of which he was even working normally.
Mwiimbu revealed that the President had a meeting with a committee on irrigation at State House on Friday, the very day the rumors started spreading.
The minister said the articles written all over social media against the President’s health are only meant to tarnish the image of the President across the country and around the globe.
He urged those behind the false articles specifically the opposition from the Tonse Alliance to desist from issuing lies before the law catches up with them.
“It has come to our attention as government that our colleagues in the opposition in particular those of the Tonse Alliance have been circulating malicious, obnoxious articles pertaining to the health of the President and other public officials. It must be noted that the laws of this country are very clear, anyone and I repeat, anyone who violates the laws of this country is answerable to the laws of the land,” warned Mwiimbu.
