All cases have been reported in Nakonde, Muchinga Province.
Acting Minister of Health, Douglas Syakalima, said two of the 13 cases have been discharged, while the remaining 11 are in stable condition.
“The Government of the Republic of Zambia continues to work with multiple local and international stakeholders to ensure targeted and timely response activities. To assure you of the multisectoral approach to the cholera outbreak response, I will be joined by my fellow Ministers from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation in select Lusaka communities,” he said.
Meanwhile, one additional Mpox case has been confirmed.
Mr Syakalima disclosed that the husband of the 34-year-old female Mpox case reported last week has tested positive for the disease.
He said the couple is stable and under home isolation, with close monitoring by health professionals.
The acting Minister also revealed that eight close contacts are under observation, with no additional symptoms reported so far.
“Refrain from direct contact with individuals showing symptoms or contaminated materials such as bedding and clothing. Wash hands frequently or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Report symptoms like rash, fever, or swollen lymph nodes to the nearest health facility without delay,” he said .
