THE Government through the Road Development Agency (RDA) on 6th March 2024 embarked on the periodic maintenance of T1 Road section between Mazabuka General Hospital-Monze Town.
The contract duration for the 62 kilometres stretch is 12 months and the works are expected to be completed in March 2025. The contractor is Messrs. Kailjee Construction (Z) Limited and is being supervised by Messrs. Zulu Burrow Consulting Limited.
The scope of works differs from one section to another based on the existing road condition. In nutshell, it involves pothole patching and levelling, resurfacing with 50-millimetre hot mix asphalt, shoulder replenishing and repair of selected drainage structures.
Works are in progress and approximately 27 kilometre out of target 62 kilomteres has been paved with asphalt translating to a progress of approximately 44%. The completed surfacing is on the section between Magoye and Monze Town.
Installation of road signage, furniture and markings will start on 23rd December 2024 and is expected to be completed by 7th January 2025.
