Hichilema fires MoH PS after receiving ZAMMSA audit findings

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has fired Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary (PS)

Professor Christopher Simoonga, just within two weeks receiving names of corrupt officials implicated at the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supply Agency (ZAMMSA).

The firing of Prof Simoonga also follows the Global Fund tender scandal where he was accused of having awarded US$6.8 million to his own company.

“President Hichilema has, pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia, terminated the contracts of employment for Professor Christopher Simoonga from the Ministry of Health, Ms. Hope Kalabi Situmbeko from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Ms. Francesca Chisagano Zyambo from the Ministry of Energy,” shared State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka in a statement.

Meanwhile, President Hichilema has appointed Arnold Simwaba as Permanent Secretary for Electricity in the Ministry of Energy, Zacharia Luhanga as PS in the Labour Ministry and Louis Mulube as PS at the Public Service Management Division (PSMD).

The Head of State has also transferred Margaret Miyoba from PSMD to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to be in charge of Administration.

President Hichilema thanked the fired officials for their service rendered to government and wished them well in their future endeavors.
