In a move poised to stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities, the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has signed an investment agreement for the construction of a fertiliser plant in Siavonga .
This development, coupled with the Southern Water and Sanitation Company Limited’s (SWSC) efforts to improve water and sanitation services, is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens.
According to Siavonga Member of Parliament, Hon. Darius Mulunda, the fertiliser plant will not only boast the agriculture and permanent jobs but also contribute to the country’s food security.
“These developments serve as a sign of our government’s commitment to improving the lives of our people,” Mulunda stated.
The fertiliser plant, valued at $845 million, is expected to produce 520,000 tonnes of urea and 300,000 tonnes of ammonia annually.
This project is part of the government’s efforts to promote agricultural development and reduce reliance on imported fertilisers.
Mr Mulunda added that the fertiliser plant, the SWSC’s improvements to water and sanitation services will have a significant impact on the lives of Siavonga residents.
The Siavonga Lawmaker pointed out that Access to clean water and improved sanitation facilities will reduce the risk of water-borne diseases and promote a healthier environment.
As Siavonga prepares to reap the benefits of these developments, Hon. Mulunda expressed his gratitude to the community for their continued support.
“Let’s work together to build a brighter future for Siavonga,” he urged.
