Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo- DRC- have agreed to form a joint Commission to analyze in detail what led to the shooting to death of a ZNS officer by alleged DRC forces on one of its border areas.
DRC Interior Security Decentralization and Traditional Affairs Minister JACQUEMIN SHABANI says the two countries want to know what happened so that they can identify the people responsible.
Mr. SHABANI, who was the co- chairperson of the ministerial security meeting between Zambia and the DRC, said this will help the two governments to see to it that such an occurrence does not happen again.
He was speaking when he issued a joint communique between Zambia and the DRC after a ministerial security meeting between the two countries that lasted for over five hours in Ndola.
And Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA, who was the chairperson of the meeting, said Zambia is committed to ensuring that the resolution of disputes between the two countries is through dialogue.
Mr. LUFUMA also said he is hopeful that the Congolese counterparts have taken note of the concerns raised by the Zambian authorities not only to the shooting incident but other concerns along the border areas of the two countries.
