According to Zambia Railways Limited Public Relations Manager, Sombe Longwani Ng’onga, the incident occurred today at 14:20 hours at Chiwala Level Crossing in the Bwana Mkubwa area of Ndola.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the truck driver failed to stop at the Chiwala level crossing, neglecting to give way to the approaching train as required by traffic rules. As a result, the train struck the truck, causing it to capsize.

Fortunately, the incident did not result in any fatalities. However, damage was sustained by the locomotive and the truck. The ZRL recovery team responded promptly and is working to restore the movement of road and rail traffic.
