Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu has confirmed that Petauke Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda has been apprehended in Zimbabwe.
According to Mwiimbu, Jay Banda was renting a flat in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. He also revealed that Jay Jay was in good health and not admitted to any hospital.
Mwiimbu stated that Jay Banda will be brought back to the country to explain who facilitated his escape from lawful custody.
The Edgar Lungu Patriotic Front groups are unsettled by the Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti’s ultimatum, which gives Jay Banda a seven-day deadline to appear in the House or risk having his Petauke Central parliamentary seat declared vacant.
Chanoda Ngwira, a tribalist from the Umodzi Kumwa grouping, has expressed concern over the Speaker’s pronouncement. Governance Activist Isaac Mwanza has also questioned the Speaker’s decision.
The question remains, why is the Patriotic Front so jittery about Jay Jay?
At the Editor Zambia, we feel vindicated, as we previously stated that the abduction story was fake.
Jay Banda, who faces aggravated robbery charges, escaped from lawful custody. He escaped from Chipata General Hospital on Sunday evening around 22:00 hours, where he was receiving medical treatment on August 5th, 2024.
