Lately it has been amazing to look at the victories of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) especially in the last six months.

The institution stands out as a critical organ of the government in the quest to improve governance, reduce corruption, and foster economic development, transparency, accountability, and integrity in both the public and private sectors, cultivating a sense of trust, confidence, and integrity within ACC.

The new dawn government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Hakainde Hichilema, is benefiting from ACC’s strengthened operations and its commitment to self-audit as it assumes national responsibilities.

ACC has proven to be up to the task in fighting past, present and future corruption. As a key observer of their fervent works it safe to say the stolen Assets shall be recovered.

Below are some of the notable achievements of the ACC that worth noting:

• Expedited convictions, demonstrate improved investigation and prosecution.

• Strengthened collaboration with sister law enforcement agencies like the Zambia Police Service and the Drug Enforcement Commission.

• Improved transparency, evidenced by regular updates on investigations, prosecutions, and recovery.

• The Recovery of millions of kwacha in cash and assets, among other things.

• Continued establishment of the Integrity Committees and training of Integrity Committee members in both public and private sectors for enhanced corruption prevention.

– Monitoring of CDF activities and FISP activities to prevent corruption and ensure that public resources are used for the intended purposes and that the public benefits.

• Enacted programs to raise awareness about corruption and promote integrity among public officials, the private sector, and the general public.

• The organization has implemented policy reforms to strengthen its operations, laws, and regulations, resulting in enhancements, transparency, accountability, and efficiency.

All this wouldn’t have come to fruition without the ever hardworking team at ACC particularly the leadership of the acting Director General Ms. Monica Mwansa who has managed to hold the commission afloat since the Director General resigned and the entire board was dissolved. Such commendable strides she is making at ACC to motivate positive results as observed above. It puts the commission in good and trusted hand as she has demonstrated a commitment to it’s conservation and care. It displays an excellent correlation between the quest of central government to fight corruption and having a perfect candidate with the desired skills at the helm of the commission at such a time.

This leaves an element of comfort and trust in the mandate and the commission as a whole.

Let us all be involved in the fight against corruption.

Together we can! Together we will!
