Thomas Sipalo has ditched the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA), claiming that the group’s vision and objectives have become increasingly ambiguous, resulting in indecision and ineffective leadership.

The Former UKA National Youth Chairperson said in a letter addressed to UKA Chairperson Sakwiba Sikota today that the current trajectory of the UKA no longer aligns with his values and principles.

He stated the prioritization of personal gain and internal power struggles has overshadowed the Alliance’s core commitment to serving the people.

On partiality, Mr Sipalo claimed that there is an evident inconsistency in holding leaders accountable, with some escaping scrutiny while others face undue consequences.

“Greed and Individualism: The focus on personal agendas has fractured our unity and undermined our ability to pursue collective goals. Absence of Collective Progress: The alliance has failed to address critical issues and deliver meaningful change, eroding public trust and confidence,” he said.

“Given these challenges, I find it impossible to continue contributing to an organization that has strayed so far from its foundational purpose. My conscience compels me to stand firm in my principles, even if it means stepping down from this position.”

Mr Sipalo stressed the need for him to “now” prioritize his integrity and commitment to the greater public good.

“I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will complete any outstanding tasks to facilitate continuity. Thank you for your understanding,” he said.
